What if you found out you were wrong?

I just saw this question... http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?...

and it got me thinking, what would you (any of you) do or think or say if, when you died, you found out you'd been wrong in what you believed?....

I saw this question was acutally asked about a year ago...

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;...

I didn't see any familiar faces/names in her answers, so here's your chance to put in your 2 cents' worth....

One last request- no bashing, or saying your belief IS right so there is no question.

Just suppose for a moment...

What if?...

What if you found out you were wrong?
Well, it really depends on "who was right." When we die if the Athiest's are right it won't make a bit of difference as only the worms will delight. We will cease to be. Others beliefs say there is a purgatory or other way to achieve heaven. The pagans are likewise depending on faith. In Norse, I believe, only those that died valiantly get the big perks. Greek and Roman I think you end up in Hades or Ellysium and you can perhaps sneak back out or seek whatever diety for a favor.

But, having said all of this the truth is simple. In my eyes living the way I have has made all the difference in my life and made this time worth living. (But I would prefer to be right at least once in my life.)
Reply:Well, I guess I'd just have to grin and bear it. But I don't see how I can be wrong, since I don't claim to understand death in the first place...
Reply:I'd be a man and admit it.
Reply:When I die , if I found out that there is no God, no salvation through Christ and no heaven and hell, then I would just cease to exist. However if I did not believe and found out I was wrong, I would be in hell.
Reply:Wrong is ft the right side of right.

Just debate te person that are right!

The left always have it wrong!
Reply:If I was wrong I would still be AWESOME because I'd be happy for living a GREAT life and being nice to everyone and all that stuff. But trust me, I'm not wrong.
Reply:I have addressed this question many times in the past. If I am wrong, then I have lost nothing. I have lived a good life and history will remember me well. If I am right, then so much the better. On the other hand, if the nonbeliever is right, then he has gained nothing but if he is wrong, then he has everything to lose. In other words, I have everything to gain and nothing to lose whereas the other guy has nothing to gain and everything to lose.

Cheers.
Reply:I'd probably have an "oh crap!!" moment or two. Then I would try to find out WHY. I'm sure if God is really loving, caring and just, He wouldn't condemn me for believing what I believe, but would instead try to show me the right way.
Reply:I believe that death is the permanent end of life. If I discover that not to be true after I die, I guess I'd consider life after death a nice consolation prize for being wrong.
Reply:Two sayings I am going to give you first. It is better to be safe than sorry and look before you leap. IF I found out that I was wrong than I suppose I missed Hell and have to creat my own heaven. Although I am a believer !!!
Reply:If I found out I was wrong after I died %26amp; reincarnation is real i'd come back %26amp; try to make things right-If I couldn't come back I'd be sincerely sorry for misleading others %26amp; myself because I stand up for all my beliefs %26amp; i'd ask for forgiveness on their souls as well as mines
Reply:Well, I've been wrong before...nobody's perfect. ;)

Though I don't think any religion or spiritual system itself is wrong or right, but if this were to really happen? Hmmm, not much I could do about it if I'm already dead, huh?
Reply:My Answer to you is that explore other religions to make sure that your belief is not wrong and what other religions make more sense. I leave the following web sites for you to explore Islam. If you don't like then check the other religons. I will never send you an e-mail or knock your door. I will only answer if you ask any question which I can answer.

Reply:Arg, I *knew* it was Mormonism all along! Dammit!
Reply:I guess it really depends who is right. If it's fundamentalist Christians or Muslims, I'd think "Damn, really?"

If I wake up in a heaven-like afterlife, I'd think "Cool, really?"

If I'm reincarnated or ceased to exist, I probably wouldn't have any thoughts about it.
Reply:Same thing as when I find out I'm wrong in life: "oops"
Reply:It wouldn't matter.

God is not that hate filled, insecure, biblical monster.
Reply:If I am wrong, and I die...I won't know it for there will be no afterlife. So since my faith gives me joy and strength in life nothing was lost and everything gained.
Reply:I have thought about this so many times. Even within each faith, there are sects and denominations. We are NOT all right because everyone believes something so different. However, they all seem to believe in a deity and most believe that Love is the driving force. I constantly search my heart and think .... "am I doing this because it's what I was taught or is it what I truly believe is driven by love?"

I can honestly say that if there was no God, no Christ, no Grace, I would experience sorrow like no other sorrow I have ever known. The depths of which I can't explain.
Reply:Well along with that question there's the question what if I'm NOT wrong, so I wouldn't want to take the chance.
